Happy Birthday, Mom! [Mth 7-Day 11-Post 53]

Timing is everything, isn’t it? Okay, maybe not everything, but timing sure does affect a lot of things. Today is my mother’s birthday, and this morning when I woke up, to my surprise I found that I had lost my voice. Needless to say, I won’t be able to sing to her over the phone today. But that certainly gives me a unique inspiration and opportunity to share here a little about this distinctive woman I call “Mom.”

While we don’t always see eye to eye, we are both greatly blessed to follow an awesome God. As we have submitted our wills to His over the years, we have learned how to encourage each other through some dark times, as well as celebrate great moments of joy and hope. We help each other see situations from different perspectives and to grow in grace. She has watched me walk over some hot coals and through a lot of fires, all the while lifting me up in prayer and trusting God to protect and guide her “Precious.” She loves without condition, supports without question, hopes without deterrence, believes without giving up.

You are an inspiration to me, Mom. Your compassionate and servant’s heart encourage me to love others more every day. Thank you for being an example of Christ’s love in my life. I love you so much. I honor you today and thank God for all the ways He’s worked in your life over the years to make you the special person that you are, the unique mother, the caring friend, and a beam of hope in so many lives around you. Have a truly blessed day!
