Holly J. Compton believes that transformation begins with small, faithful choices.
Her journey with Jesus began at fourteen on her first missions trip, and for more than three decades she has served, taught, and walked alongside people across cultures and nations, witnessing how God meets us right where we are.
Today, Holly and her husband, Alex, lead Amor Real Ministries and oversee Patβs Place, a refuge for women and children experiencing domestic violence in Lima, Peru. Her ministry is grounded in compassion, restoration, and the hope of new beginnings.
Holly holds a bachelorβs degree in English from Wheaton College (Norton, MA) and is currently pursuing her Master of Ministry at Grace School of Theology. Her heart is to help new and growing Christians encounter the life-changing love of Jesus in a way that feels real, approachable, and deeply personalβone day and one choice at a time.
Why I Wrote Choosing True Life
What started more than twenty years ago as just a title I heard in a dream, my foretold book took its precious time being formed through every experience, every joyful celebration, every tearful disappointment, every lesson learned along the way.
And in the fullness of time, God led me to the right writing course that helped me script His cautionary taleβthat choosing His ways over the worldβs was truly the only way to live the fulfilling life that He offers. I merely sat down and let my fingers obey His Holy-Spirit commands, and 70,000 words and six weeks later, I had my first ever manuscript.
Mind you, over the following three years until publishing became a reality, that manuscript endured some magnificent overhauls and then final tweaks, until it became its true and final self. Gratefully, I now have a blueprint to follow for the next book or books that He births in me to share His next message.
While those four years are now under my belt, I did not know immediately what the purpose of the book would be. As the transformation of the words themselves took place, its purpose became clear, and a longtime need was soon to be met.
Alex and I have been doing missions work around the world together for 22 years. That kind of work suggests that we will encounter new believers everywhere, and in many cases, we donβt get to stick around to help lead them from that place of new beginnings into the strong and transforming life of faith in Christ. Maybe they get connected to a local church, maybe they even get connected to a mentor, but, maybe not.
This book is now that missing pieceβa discipleship guide for that new believer who needs a map to that abundant lifeβsomething that plucks him or her out of the life they were living and onto the road, the journey, that leads into freshness, into joy, into eternity.
