The Awakening Grace Project (1/27)

This week on March 4th, Alex and I will celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. It blows me away to think of all that has happened in these fifteen years, but even more so the life that has transpired this last year alone. In March of 2019, two very distinctive events took place that shaped me … Continue reading The Awakening Grace Project (1/27)

When a Dream Dies (39/40)

On the morning I turned 30, I got up like any other Saturday morning where we lived in Peru, and I made my way to the church where I taught my English class. Hard work, but I loved it. My students were eager to learn, and I was happy to teach them every week. Alongside … Continue reading When a Dream Dies (39/40)

Restoration Equals Hope (36/40)

In my life God seems to be telling a story at every turn. I like telling His stories; it’s why I write. His stories bring Him glory, and even in the tiniest way, they exemplify His sovereignty over all things. In Peru, God has been writing a story since the beginning of time. We just … Continue reading Restoration Equals Hope (36/40)

The Christmas tree has always been a symbol of endurance, like that of God's love throughout eternity, and the lights were added to the tree to symbolize Jesus being a constant light to all generations and the light of salvation through faith. In 2022 just after moving to Texas, the Lord led me to finally write the book He gave me a title for in a dream in 2005. Now, 20 years later, I have completed all edits on that manuscript, and it's on its way to print! This book is about choosing to intentionally follow Jesus every day, and by doing that, He transforms our lives. That's exactly what He's done in my life through this long process. I have followed through, and I trust Him to be faithful to give this project the wings to fly! The Hebrew word for “give thanks” in the Old Testament is yadah and it literally means “to acknowledge God in the middle of the mess.” The Hebrew word for “give thanks” in the Old Testament is yadah and it literally means “to acknowledge God in the middle of the mess.” As I mentioned yesterday, sometimes trusting God means that we choose to surrender our ideas of how things should go or how things should work out in the end. We have all daydreamed at some point about our future and who or what might be in it, where we might go, how our own dreams might be fulfilled. David wrote this psalm when he was older and is speaking to God’s people who were discouraged because they saw the wicked prosper while those who tried to live righteously were struggling. Instead of reacting with envy, anger, or fear, David teaches them how to respond: Trust God, keep doing what is right, and remain steady. God sees everything and will personally uphold those who rely on Him. Do you ever feel totally alone and even abandoned by God and others? In what have you placed your trust and hope? I would have loved knowing Billy Graham personally, wouldn't you? He lived with an unshakable confidence in God's love and spoke a clear message that Jesus is all we need. I have no doubt that his deep faith came at a price (anything worth living for always does!), but I am very sure that he also walked in the favor and blessings of God every day of his life too.
