I became a mom 16 years ago today to this beautiful young lady, Eden Graciela Compton (Gracie). I am so proud of her gentle and kind nature, and I know God's not done with her yet!! Had the privilege of meeting Rebecca St. James (again) after more than 20 years. Alex and I are on the FamilyLife Love Like You Mean It cruise, docked in Isla de Roatan, Honduras, for the day, which was where we went scuba diving on our honeymoon 21 years ago. It's amazing to see God bringing things full circle! In the craziness of this week and being sick, I almost forgot to let you know that Salt & Sparrow published a guest post of mine on their blog noted below. If you've ever had the rug pulled out from under you, ever had YOUR plans disappear in a puff of smoke--this is for you! God doesn't torment us by thwarting our dreams; He very, very carefully orchestrates our lives for the BEST outcome possible. Sometimes we just have to wait for it.... The Christmas tree has always been a symbol of endurance, like that of God's love throughout eternity, and the lights were added to the tree to symbolize Jesus being a constant light to all generations and the light of salvation through faith. In 2022 just after moving to Texas, the Lord led me to finally write the book He gave me a title for in a dream in 2005. Now, 20 years later, I have completed all edits on that manuscript, and it's on its way to print! This book is about choosing to intentionally follow Jesus every day, and by doing that, He transforms our lives. That's exactly what He's done in my life through this long process. I have followed through, and I trust Him to be faithful to give this project the wings to fly! We have all daydreamed at some point about our future and who or what might be in it, where we might go, how our own dreams might be fulfilled. David wrote this psalm when he was older and is speaking to God’s people who were discouraged because they saw the wicked prosper while those who tried to live righteously were struggling. Instead of reacting with envy, anger, or fear, David teaches them how to respond: Trust God, keep doing what is right, and remain steady. God sees everything and will personally uphold those who rely on Him.
