I am writing this post from the ER at Northside Hospital Forsyth. Alex very painfully pulled a muscle in his right thigh earlier this afternoon, bad enough to warrant this visit. I planned to write a basic “70 in 7” status update tonight; I am thankful that his injury isn’t any worse and that I am still able to write as planned. Of course, I had hoped to be writing from the comfort of my living room couch, but I happily will take this uncomfortably hard ER room chair over a multitude of worse options. It is strange to be here and not be the patient, however.
Lose 70 pounds, write 70 blog posts in 7 months. 10 pounds, 10 posts per month. Yep, that was the plan.
Life happens. You know it. I know it. And we just keep moving. I had surgery, I’ve been sick, Alex has been traveling and is now injured. That’s life. We do the best we can.
Trust me, I want to say, “Oh yeah, I’ve lost 30 pounds and written 30 posts. I’m right on schedule!”
Gosh, I would look good now. Oh well.
I lost 20, then gained some back, then hit a plateau. Reality sometimes bites. I’ve lost a total of 15 pounds overall. At least I have lost something.
Thankfully, I am basically on track for the writing. I have a lot of people to thank as far as keeping me accountable, giving me ideas, reading, reflecting, commenting, inspiring. I am grateful that I have been disciplined enough in that, and that I keep pressing onward.
After my surgery, my diet went completely askew. This was expected, having to endure ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day for more than two weeks. Oh poor me, right? Well, any adult who has had their tonsils out can commiserate with the pain (as did the lady who registered Alex here at the ER…yes, we bonded over that!). The problem is, just before that I had eliminated most white flour and sugar; the inundation of my system with their return has not only usurped my new-found intestinal balance, but stole my mood-enhancing, brain-sustaining, protein-based equilibrium.
Okay. Time to restart. Hm, sounds familiar. Oh right. That was Post #21. The problem with that failed attempt was that my system needed to be fully cleansed of disagreeable antibiotics and residual toxins left behind to keep my sugar cravings ever belligerent within. In other words, you can’t truly restart until you reset! So Advocare, 24-Day Challenge, Cleanse Phase—here I come! Plus, another attempt at a “biggest loser” prize at its conclusion. No holds barred. I’m out to win it this time!
I will say, having not only deviated from the “clean eating” diet encouraged by Advocare, but also having my nutritional supplements interrupted by the surgery (both pre- and post-op requirements), I realize now how incredibly different—i.e. terrible—I feel. I know firsthand what countless Olympic athletes and countless other non-paid endorsers know about the benefits of Advocare. I will be sharing more about this in the near future, but if you’re interested in learning more, you can visit my website. In addition, I am having a little dessert social this Monday night, July 8th, at 8pm, to share more about this incredible company and product. Comment on this post if you would like to attend.
