“Look at You, Jesus!” (7/30/2022)

"Take pleasure in what humbles me? I’m not there yet. My struggle with my weight has kept me humble throughout my entire life, but I’m not sure that I can say this struggle has brought me joy."

"Hope knows that if great trials are avoided, then great deeds remain undone, and the possibility of growth into greatness of soul is aborted."

Hi friends, I've been given a unique opportunity to receive recognition not only for my book, 𝘊𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘦 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦, but also for the impact I've had on your lives, in my missions work, and in ministry in general. Below is a link where you can share how I've impacted your life, and if you've read my book, you can also share its impact too. It would mean the world to me if you would take 3 minutes to share your heart. This Scripture has ALL new meaning to me! God is renewing my strength! It's one thing to know God called and prepared you to write a book. It's something entirely different to have others recognize the quality and impact of that book. As you know, 𝘊𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘦 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦 is a Finalist for the Kingdom Book Award in the category of Truth & Transformation (winners TBD Nov-26). Now it's already been named the Christlit Book Award 2026 Winner in the category of Understanding the Faith. I'm so honored and humbled in God's grace and timing. I've talked a lot over these 40 posts about trusting in Jesus, but I had to say this one thing about trusting in ourselves. Our thoughts, our memories, our opinions, our daydreams, and even our own questions can so easily lead us down distressful and dirty corridors of our minds, deeper and deeper into despair till we can't find our way out. The only Light available is in the Word of God. That's the only home for Truth. Make it the home of your heart. 10 years ago today--July 26, 2016--God delivered me from 18 years of depression! And it has never returned! I'm so grateful for this amazing testimony that the prayers of the faithful availeth much! And as a result, Alex and I started Amor Real Ministries that August. Also, 20 years ago this month, Pat's Place opened, and 30 years ago this summer, I gave my heart to the Lord. So much to celebrate! He makes everything beautiful in its time! I truly believe it takes as much courage for us to believe that Jesus will heal our bodies as it takes to praise Him even if He doesn't. Read that again. Have you ever drawn near to God? Have you ever experienced Him as your refuge? I have. It's such a place of soul-peace, a safe and quiet space just for Him and me to be together. Sometimes we don't talk; we just are. Sometimes He speaks, and I know His voice. Then I usually cry because His words are filled with Shepherd-love and tender grace, and I am listening and grateful. Why would I not trust in Him? Last year I started a series about Trust, and I never completed its last 4 posts. Tonight the Lord had me return to that series because I desperately need to have this verse in front of me. Friends, no matter what the past has been or what our current circumstances are, God is more than able to take it from here and do something 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱! Commit your way--surrender!-and Trust that He's got it! And He Will Do It!! I'm tired of getting it all wrong, how about you? 𝘊𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘦 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦 has been named an Official Finalist in the Kingdom Book Awards!
